On the eve of China’s National Day, the villagers of Changkou Village, Gaotang Town, Jiangle County received the profit from the first sale of “air” – a forestry carbon ticket dividend of 140,000 yuan.

On May 18 last year, at the launch ceremony of the Sanming Forestry Carbon Ticket, Changkou Village received the country’s first forestry carbon ticket numbered “0000001”, becoming the first “carbon ticket” village in China.

This carbon ticket involves 3,197 mu (about 213 hectares) of ecological public welfare forests in Changkou Village. After a third-party assessment and calculation, the carbon emission reduction during the monitoring period was 12,723 tons. Among them, Fujian Tonghai Nickel Technology Co., Ltd. purchased 2,723 tons of carbon emission reductions at a price of 40,845 yuan, and Fujian Jinsen Carbon Sink Technology Co., Ltd. purchased and stored 10,000 tons of carbon emission reductions at a price of 10 yuan per ton.

“This time, 140,000 yuan of carbon ticket income will be distributed to all villagers in cash, and each will receive a dividend of 150 yuan.” said Deng Wanfu, secretary of the party branch of Changkou Village.

“My family of 5 people received 750 yuan, and I am very happy.” Sun Guiying, a villager in Changkou Village, said that a good ecology brings good benefits, making the concept of ecological civilization and green development more popular.

Green mountains and green waters are priceless treasures. Since last year, Jiangle County has continued to deepen the comprehensive pilot work of forestry reform and development. Taking the reform of the forestry carbon ticket system as the starting point, it has innovated and explored the ecological product value realization mechanism of “carbon ticket” into “banknote”.

At present, Jiangle County has developed a forestry carbon ticket project with an area of 48,000 mu and a carbon ticket volume of 150,600 tons, accounting for more than half of the total carbon tickets developed in Sanming City.
